The heart Of the Prairies
Rangeland Bison and Elk was started in 2000, by Swiss immigrant farmer / rancher Armin Mueller. Arriving in Canada at the ripe age of 21 Armin had a deep love and romance for the the Canadian west. Coming from a dairy background Armin ventured into what he at that time knew best and so built up a successful dairy herd west of Lacombe Alberta; however something was missing and over time he realized he had a deeper desire to work even closer with nature.

Why Bison
Bison is the largest land mammal and once ranged from the eastern seaboard to Oregon and California; from Great Slave Lake in northern Alberta to northern Mexico. Although no one will ever know exactly how many bison once inhabited North America, estimates range from twenty-five to seventy million. William Hornaday, a naturalist who spent considerable time in the West, both before and during the most severe years of the slaughter, comments on the seemingly infinite bison population and the impossibility of estimating their quantity: It would have been as easy to count or to estimate the number of leaves in a forest as to calculate the number of buffaloes living at any given time during the history of the species previous to 1870

Our Legacy
When the Muellers began raising their first bison herd in 2000, it was their passion that allowed them to overcome every hurdle and grow our company into a premier bison supplier across North America and Europe. It is that same passion that we hope to instill in students with our gift to Lakeland College and their animal science technology program.
